The stream is little more than a trickle in the summer, though it can flood in winter.
In 2014 we excavated a pool in the stream to provide a refuge for aquatic life in dry times

In the summer of 2018, when the stream almost dried up, we were surprised to find that there were large crayfish there, probably the introduced signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus).
