Woodland next to the house

Muntjac buck amongst trees

This used to be a field for cattle which was yellow with buttercups in the summer.  About 1990 it was planted with native trees by the Warwickshire nature conservancy.  It is reaching the stage now where the trees are suppressing the vegetation around them.

We keep glades open for wild raspberries, teasel, bramble etc. and it is maturing into a nice, rich habitat. The Little Owl has been seen in this area.

The original field was full of buttercups, which do you prefer?

Swallow Nesting Cups

Swallows are gregarious, so putting up multiple cuips makes it more likely that they will use them -We live in hope!
